The Optimum is the fourth of the IsoTek high-performance power cables. It has just been updated to a new improved EVO3 (Evolution 3) version and is clearly the best power cable in our range.

IsoTek EVO3 Optimum

The new EVO3 Optimum offers significant improvements over its predecessor, the earlier GII version. To develop this ultimate, absolutely uncompromising power cable, we combined state-of-the-art conductor geometries with the best possible materials.

The optimum consists of three silver-plated copper conductors, which are manufactured using the Ohno continuous casting process (OCC). The OCC process for refining copper was developed and patented by Japanese Professor Ohno at Japan's Chiba Institute of Technology. Compared to traditional oxygen-free copper, it has a significantly purer nature. The advantages for applications in hi-fi and home cinema systems are excellent electrical conductivity, greater flexibility and greater resistance to fatigue and corrosion.

Each of the three 3.0 mm 2 conductors consists of a new innovative square arrangement of 40 strands, with each individual strand also having a square cross profile. This unique structure enables an increased contact area between the strands, which further improves conductivity.

Each conductor is surrounded by a high quality Teflon FEP dielectric, ensuring a very low dielectric constant over a wide frequency range. The three conductors are slightly twisted together to keep out electromagnetic and high-frequency interference, and are enclosed in a cotton insert that not only improves internal strength and reduces microphonic effects, but also - similar to FEP - has excellent dielectric properties. The entire structure is double shielded - first with a Mylar film that encloses the conductors and acts as an additional dielectric buffer, and then with an active shield made of oxygen-free copper for maximum protection against high-frequency interference. With a particularly durable, heat-resistant PVC outer jacket, the cable is not only particularly flexible, but also mechanically resilient.

Construction

The conductors run parallel and are slightly twisted. This established technology offers optimal protection against high-frequency and electromagnetic interference.

A) Conductors: The 3.0 mm 2 thick conductors made of silver-plated OCC copper (Ohno continuous cast) are significantly purer than traditional oxygen-free copper. Each conductor consists of a new innovative square arrangement of strands. This geometry, in conjunction with the high-purity copper, ensures extreme performance and enormous conductivity.

B) Dielectric: A dielectric made of Teflon FEP (perfluoroethylene propylene) is chemically inert and has a very low dielectric constant over a wide frequency range. FEP has very high stress cracking resistance and a low coefficient of friction, making it an ideal material for dielectrics due to both its heat resistance and good electrical insulation.

C) Inlay: A cotton inlay gives the cable more internal stability and reduces microphonic effects. Cotton also has excellent dielectric properties.

D) Sheath: A Mylar sheath separates the inner conductor from the flexible PVC jacket. The combination of paper, cotton and PVC further improves the dielectric properties.

E) Shielding: A grounded OFC shield prevents high frequency interference and protects against common mode interference that could affect the live and neural conductors.

F) Sheath: With an outer sheath made of PVC, the cable is not only particularly flexible, but also mechanically resilient.
