Elac RS500-SB subwoofer offers a very advanced driver design.

High Excursion (HEX) surround technology allows for greater extrusion and less distortion. However, to facilitate the extra movement, longer voice coils were required. This meant that the aluminum sandwich technology was too heavy. To improve efficiency, the drivers were designed with cutouts placed in the paper cone before being bonded to the aluminum cone.

The cast backrest ensures stability under load, and a large magnet completes the cleverly designed driver.

The discrete implementation of these tracking amplifiers allows for maximum voltage swing, delivering all the required power and additional dynamic power across the entire operating range of the woofers.

Elac RS500-SB features Auto EQ and improved app control

Placing a subwoofer can be a serious challenge. This is because they are usually placed in corners or hidden next to sofas, causing reflections, peaks or complete cancellations. The principle of ELAC's Auto-EQ is to remove the effect of the room by taking a near-field measurement and comparing it with a far-field (listening position) measurement.

This allows greater freedom to place the subwoofer where it meets all requirements. You can calibrate the Elac RS500-SB Reference subwoofer excellently with the 3rd generation "Sub Control 3.0" app with auto-EQ room correction. From now on, the app also offers the option of setting up more than one subwoofer.
