audioquest Rocket 33 This cable with double star quad geometry called “Rocket” looks unusual from the outside and is not ordinary from the inside either. The sophisticated combination of exceptional materials and extremely sophisticated design allows the Rockets to honor all types of music equally.

SOLID LONG GRAIN COPPER/PERFECT SURFACE COPPER CONDUCTORS (LGC/PSC): The Rocket 33 uses a carefully coordinated combination of long crystalline copper with extremely high-purity Perfect Surface copper. LGC contains fewer oxides, fewer impurities, fewer grain boundaries within the conductive material and therefore offers definitely better reproduction. The amazingly smooth and pure PSC also eliminates roughness and significantly improves clarity.

CARBON-BASED NOISE DISSIPATION (INSULATION): The four negative conductors in the Rocket 33 are insulated with partially conductive carbon-containing polyethylene. This remarkable material attenuates high-frequency interference so that it is not fed back into the amplifier. This provides the same sonic benefit as reducing fluctuations and improving spatiality as reducing RF waste in an audio circuit. The Rocket 33 uses polyethylene foam insulation on the positive conductors because air absorbs almost no energy and polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to the air in the PE foam, there are significantly fewer blurring effects than with other materials.

DOUBLE STAR QUAD GEOMETRY: The relationship of the individual conductors to one another defines the basic electrical properties of a cable (capacitance and inductance). However, even if these variables are kept in a sensible balance, the relationship between the conductors can vary in such a way that the sound is greatly affected. The Rocket 33's double-star quad design allows for significantly better dynamics and information clarity than when the same ladder is run in parallel.

SPREAD SPECTRUM TECHNOLOGY (SST): Each individual conductor and bundle of conductors has its own specific distortion profile. Although radially symmetrical conductors (solid or tubular) have the least amount of unevenness, any conductor of a given size leaves a sonic footprint. SST is a method to significantly reduce these characteristic weaknesses by using a precisely determined combination of conductors of different sizes. The different conductor sizes used in the Rocket 33, determined using SST, enable the exceptionally clear, pure and dynamic sound.

BI-WIRING: The Rocket 33 is an exceptional single bi-wiring cable. When the halves are separated at the speaker end, the double star quad geometry transforms the Rocket 33 into a true double bi-wiring set thanks to the magnetic independence of the individual quad conductor sections. A single Star Quad leader group, taken on its own, would be a bit lightweight in its performance, as it is very upper voice heavy. The other Star Quad Ladder group is bass heavy; their sound is more powerful and less focused on ultimate resolution. Both together create the optimal full-range structure. When the cable ends are used separately, the Rocket 33 becomes a double-bi-wiring cable with maximum performance thanks to the double-star quad construction.

CONNECTION: AudioQuest offers a wide range of high-quality connectors with which the Rocket 33 can be connected to any type of hi-fi equipment. When it comes to quality, the focus is more on low-distortion sound than on eye candy. The gold and silver on these AQ plugs have a "boring" dull look because the metals are applied directly to the plug - there is no shiny-looking but rough-sounding layer of nickel underneath. AQ-PK cable lugs are also relatively soft, as higher quality metals are soft, which is beneficial for the quality of the connection. For devices that require banana or BFA plugs, the AQ-PK BFA/banana plugs offer unprecedented high-quality reproduction compared to conventional brass versions.

USE: The PVC “pants” on the ends of the Rocket 33 are marked “Speaker End” or “Amp End”. Please use the cables in the appropriate direction.
