AudioQuest NRG-X2

The AudioQuest NRG-X2 is a two-prong power cable with a C7 connector. Distortion is added to any power cable, especially stranded cables, no matter how perfect the power source. Even the most sophisticated filters and power supplies cannot eliminate this cable-related distortion.

SEMI-SOLID CONCENTRIC PACKED CONDUCTORS: The semi-solid, concentrically arranged conductors are used in some AudioQuest power and speaker cables because they provide a cost-effective, flexible alternative to traditional stranded conductors. Semi-Solid Concentric Packed conductors use fewer and larger strands that maintain their position relative to each other throughout the entire length of the cable. While solid conductors are the ultimate solution to strand-induced distortion, Semi-Solid Concentric Packed conductors avoid many of the causes that cause distortion in stranded conductors.

LONG-GRAIN-COPPER (LGC): Long-grain copper (LGC) provides a more balanced, clearer sound than cables with the usual oxygen-free, high-conductivity copper (OFHC). OFHC is a general specification of the metal industry that considers "losses" without any consideration of distortion. LGC contains fewer oxides in the conductive material, fewer impurities, fewer grain boundaries and offers clearly better performance. NRG-X3 cables contain LGC strands in a semi-solid concentric packed conductor construction.

HELIX GEOMETRY: The relationship between the individual conductors defines the basic electrical properties of a cable (capacitance and inductance). Even if these variables are kept in a reasonable balance, the relationship between the conductors can vary in such a way that the sound is greatly influenced. The helical arrangement (for example as a round spiral) enables significantly better dynamics and information clarity than with parallel routing or as multiple stranded pairs of the same conductors.

COLD WELDING SYSTEM: This innovative connector design enables a perfect heat-free connection between cable and connector. The connection between the connector and the conductors is made using AQ's cold welding system. This creates a high-quality connection that completely preserves the structural integrity of the conductors. The cold welding system consists of a combination of high pressure at the contact point and the use of copper or silver impregnated paste.
